Ascend-U is committed to creating a community where everyone feels that they belong. Diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice live at the heart of our institute and provide the foundation for a strong and cohesive community where all can thrive. We believe that honoring diversity and inclusion, respecting and caring for others, and contributing to positive change are fundamental values in achieving our mission of developing engaged global citizens.

As an international institute welcoming more than 30 nationalities, we celebrate the range of cultures, identities, and experiences in our midst. We ensure students have the opportunity to explore their personal and cultural identities to better understand both themselves and their role in creating an environment of respect and support for everyone. Embedded within our curriculum is a thoughtful examination of the social systems that have shaped our world and open-minded dialogue about issues relating to culture, race, gender, sexuality, beliefs, class and privilege. We consider the ways that our established systems have helped us develop, and understand the ways they have contributed to injustice. With this learning, we empower one another to become advocates for inclusion both within and beyond our institute and imagine ways in which we might build a more equitable world.
